100th Post - Find a muse

I am going to dedicate my 100th post to a recent muse I found - Lykke Li.

I'm very drawn to whispery, echo-y voices, especially those very difficult to copy. Lykke Li is one of a kind. And I've to admit, I love "powdered sugar pop". She first caught my attention when I first heard - I'm good I'm gone.

Embedding is not allowed, so view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJHdT1j6hH8&feature=related

Lykke Li's a young Swedish singer. She's quite a nomad. The family moved to Stockholm when Li was a toddler and later moved to a mountaintop in Portugal when Zachrisson was six, where they lived for five years; the family also spent time in Lisbon and Morocco and spent winters in Nepal and India. She moved to the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn in New York for three months when she was 19. She returned when she was 21 to record her album.

I find her tunes mostly speak about her broken yet prideful heart. Sometimes she sings about sweet revenge but deep down she's yearns to be love. She's into live music, good acoustic, confined spaces.. I like her.

Another fav track by Lykke Li - Everybody but me:

Do check her out on youtube!

Happy weekend, everyone.

A Home is where the Heart is

I've been thinking about how to do up my room when we officially move to our new place couple streets away. I would like something simple yet intrigued by colors. And I reckon I can have both.

I like a good mixture of vintage and modern just to jazz it up abit. I don't like buying things all from the same store especially when it comes to furniture or clothes. I think assortment is good.

The entire big move was a huge headache because we're literally living out of boxes and buried under them. We'll be living with my mom's friend until the new place is ready. She's such a kind soul to home us. Thank you Auntie.

My mom promised me a list of things for my new room. A new (and bigger) wardrobe, a tv, some shelves and an arm chair. In return for NOT painting my room/or any of my walls, red. I've decided on cream. Oh, I'm also getting a ceiling fan.

Update again on any new room updates, if anyone's reading and wants to know.. check back.

Happy Tuesday. (cept the fact I spilt milo on my desk)

Movie: The Town

Just caught The Town over the weekend and I thought Ben Affleck directed his ass off this one ;)

The film started with a solemn typography introduction of the dark side of Boston - Charlestown, and it escalates with a bank robbery where Affleck and gang held the bank manager (played by Rebecca Hall, Vicky Christina Barcelona) as hostage letting her off without killing her and the tragedy slowly unfolds...

Bank robberies and car chases were definitely the highlights of the film, showing elements of Grand theft auto. The plot was rather predictable but don't hold against it - The Town was highly entertaining, exciting, filled with solid performances (Jon Hamm from Mad Men, Jeremy Renner from The Hurt locker), funny at some points (super gangsta humor) and relatively charming. I felt the film was genuine from start to end. No dirty tricks, no gimmicks or make believe.

Side note: Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) is definitely a rising star. Despite the fact that sometimes I can't make out what she's saying but she's always smokin' hot even with badly drawn eye make-up. Can't wait to see her in The Green Lantern.

Star (kid) of the Week - Willow Smith

Willow Smith made me want other famous celebrity kids to start releasing music! Will Lourdes, Madonna's Daughter follow her footsteps?
