Let's go tangerine

I've always wanted an Orange lipstick and I was happy to find it at Topshop. ;)
I really love this shade. It's such a cheerful color it can brighten up any dress down outfit! Or days when you don't feel like putting on too much make up. I can look a little sickly cos my lip color can be really nude-ish. It's rather velvety in texture and glides on very easily on your lips. This gorgeous hue - Infrared, is available at Topshop for $19 SGD

Go bold this Summer!

What's new

Hmmm. I like the fact that this week is such a short work week. (triple yay!)

Perks of the job: Be part of Marc by Marc Jacobs fashion show last Tuesday. It was sooo good. I like that their spring 2011 collection has so many wearable pieces. Ultimate lust. They're a burst of colors and a good balance of neural hues like grey.

Do you want to know how they recreate all that frizz?

Tadah! (Snapped by my trusty BB bold)

Anyway, so what's new? I'm officially a year older. (haaaaappppyyyyy birthdaaaaaay to meeeeeee) Bummer. But this year despite having most of the usual suspects not in town - I still managed to feel loved. Ally and Sammie came by with cake while I had my clay mask on (IMAGINE THE HORROR?!). I was literally unable to laugh or smile. It was funny though. This birthday I really don't want much - I just want to be happier than before.

Talk when I've something exciting to update.
You have all my love xxxxx

On Stranger Tides

I cannot live without painting my nails. When my nails are naked, I feel like I am too. And I swear by O.P.I. I like the fact that O.P.I brings a dash of fun and pop culture to nail polish by collaborating with famous celebrities and hit televisions series.

Inspired by the highly anticipated Disney movie "Pirates of the Caribbean: On stranger tides", O.P.I launches 6 mystical colors that embody the wild escapades of Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz.

OPI "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" Sikver Shatter nail polish.

OPI "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" nail polish in Steady As She Rose, Sparrow Me the Drama and Planks a Lot.

OPI "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" nail polish in Skull & Glossbones, Stranger Tides and Mermaids Tears.

The colors are inspired by a world filled with mythical mermaids, gleaming treasure and high-seas adventures. With shades ranging from safe and lavender to Khaki gray and pastal pink, these colors are evocative of a warm, tropical setting, with a classic nautical influence, says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI executive VP and artistic director

Which color are you lusting for? I particularly love Mermaids Tears and Steady as she rose! Can't wait to get my hands on them when I see them in Singapore.

Happy April's Fool Day!

Wonder woman for M.A.C

I'm always thrilled to see who MAC collaborates with next. Behind this strong force this month is iconic DC comics' Wonder Woman. Extremely sexy and powerful, I say. It is clear that MAC and Wonder Woman's mission is to transform plain janes across the universe into powerful individuals who aren't afraid to don on bright colors and feel confident.

I'm a proud owner of the 2 colors on the far right. Don't be sad if the red is OOS everywhere, it is one of their regular colors - Russian Red. The rest is, sadly, limited edition. Don't forget to get your hands on one of these lovelies when it's launched store wide in SG from 10 March onwards!

The Dark Knight Rises

There are so much talk about Anne Hathaway scoring villain role in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster film - The Dark Knight Rises. Read the Alleycaat's take here.

I was a little shocked at first with Nolan's pick. Hathaway has always been the Princess Diaries girl in my head. In my impression, she's that doe-eyed brunette with the winning smile who would nail every chick flick. But recently, she started taking on serious roles in films such as Rachel gets Married and the most recent Love & other drugs. I'm mesmerized a little and I'm supportive of the change in career directions but can she really nail Catwoman? First of all there will be running tongues of comparison between her and Michelle Pfeiffer. There's almost NO comparison because Pfeiffer brought the cat alive.

So.. I'm not sure. However pictures of Hathaway in her kitty costume for The Dark Knight Rises is kinda hot. She actually looks different! I almost couldn't see shadows of Princess diaries! Well, till we finally catch the film we won't know how she fares. Do you think she can be the purrrrr-fect fit?

We'll see.

100th Post - Find a muse

I am going to dedicate my 100th post to a recent muse I found - Lykke Li.

I'm very drawn to whispery, echo-y voices, especially those very difficult to copy. Lykke Li is one of a kind. And I've to admit, I love "powdered sugar pop". She first caught my attention when I first heard - I'm good I'm gone.

Embedding is not allowed, so view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJHdT1j6hH8&feature=related

Lykke Li's a young Swedish singer. She's quite a nomad. The family moved to Stockholm when Li was a toddler and later moved to a mountaintop in Portugal when Zachrisson was six, where they lived for five years; the family also spent time in Lisbon and Morocco and spent winters in Nepal and India. She moved to the neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn in New York for three months when she was 19. She returned when she was 21 to record her album.

I find her tunes mostly speak about her broken yet prideful heart. Sometimes she sings about sweet revenge but deep down she's yearns to be love. She's into live music, good acoustic, confined spaces.. I like her.

Another fav track by Lykke Li - Everybody but me:

Do check her out on youtube!

Happy weekend, everyone.

Lavin hearts H&M

Am I not cool if I don't blog about H&M and Lavin's collaboration?

Lavin hearts H&M collection has finally hit the stores worldwide. (fml, why isn't there H&M in Singapore?!) We can only feast on pictures taken from Lavin Hearts H&M Haute Couture Fashion Show and Cocktail Party that took place in the New York high fashion scene. "Everyone's taking high fashion to the high street," Albert Elbaz explained beforehand. "I wanted to try to bring the high street back to high fashion." And so he did. Expect extra ruffles, special buttons or doubled up.

Here are some of my favorites:

So. many. leopard. prints. Looking at them makes me perpetually high.
Check out the rest HERE!

Hope you had a good Sunday. I know you slept it away. Me too.

Top 10 girl crushes

I'm not lesbian but I enjoy looking at girls. Been toying with this entry for awhile, just never got down to it. So let's go. Top 10 girl crushes.

(Note: They're of random sequence. I love them all the same. kthanks)

#10: Dita Von Teese

Nobody can rock a piece of lingerie the way she can. Sometimes I think she's so sexy that I think she's untouchable. Hate to look at her like a sex object/icon but seriously, I wouldn't do her because I'm beneath her.

#9: Gong Li

Hi, I love my Asian genes. (I've got so much Asian pride!) Her sex appeal has got nothing to do with her showing her cleavage but it's that aura she has that makes men want to be subdued under her little pinkie. Lastly................ ASIAN PRIDE!!!!!!!!!!

#8: Kim Kardashian

1) She's not stick thin and embrace her curves.
2) She looks hot in ALMOST anything

#7: Keira Knightley

I've loved her ever since I knew of her existence. She has the sexiest and cutest British accent I've ever heard (yet still audible). I like the fact that despite looking almost anorexic (it's genes, my people..), she still looks almost perfect to me. I hope to see her act in anything in the near 2011! Atonement was not enough for me.

#6: Blake Lively (NOT Serena van der Woodsen)

I'm a big Gossip Girl fan and I'm rooting for Blair but Serena always seem to be the eye-catching one. I first spot Blake Lively from Sisterhood of the traveling pants (if you're a girl and you haven't watched it, you should jump off a cliff now) From her hair (which always seem like she just got out of bed!) to whatever she wears, she's a star. She's blonde, blue-eyed and surprisingly very hot. My god, even the way she giggles sounds hot. HUR. Look out for her in Green Lantern!

#5: Katy Perry

I don't care what you say - I like her. I like describing someone as cute and actually mean it. She's cute and sexy at the same time, what more she's also hugely talented. Gotta love her quirky style too! You HAVE to admit it, Perry's songs are of ear worm quality and they get stuck in your head for weeks. It's really just consolation that she's looks incredibly hot doing it. Plz stopz beingz jealouz.

#4: Shu Qi

HAHAHAHAHAHAH ASIAN PRIDE. I really don't care if she did soft porn before. (I'd watch it anyway) But I care the fact that she's so incredibly stunning looking and charming. Though she is not a traditional Chinese beauty, Shu Qi boasts a unique brand of sexiness that is unforgettable.

#3: Lea Michele (HAHA or Rachel Berry!)

This girl can sing. Yes, Rachel may be a little bit annoying (understated) on Glee but I can't take my eyes off her whenever she's on screen. She's a young lady with a talent and to pull that off is already hot. I also kinda like the way she looks - brunette, sun-kissed skin and doe eyed.

But if you must know, behind this talent comes a long list of musicals she has done before and just to name afew: Les Miserables, The Diary of Anne Frank and Spring Awakening

#2: Tyra Banks

She is the woman who invented SMIZING. That's mesmerizing by smiling with your eyes. She's beautiful, talented and a successful business woman. Why is she hot to me? Because I want to be her. Tyra Banks acts as an impressive example for aspiring models and actresses everywhere, and she wears her supermodel title with pride. She will always be my favourite Victoria Secrets Angel.

Fun-fact: In 1996 Tyra Banks was the first black woman to be feature on an Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover.

#1: Carey Mulligan

A writer from Telegraph said she looks like "the most delicate of English roses," a fitting description of this attractive and waifish young actress. She looks so endearingly adorable, it's so HARD not to like her. First noticed her in An Education where she blew me away. I think she's the next upcoming starlet to watch.

Oh and she rocked a short crop very, very nicely.

Ok I had fun doing this list! Maybe I should do 1 every week?

Crizal's here to save the day!

Did you know that picking out right lens is just as important as picking out a pair of pretty frames? I never knew until I was given the opportunity to experiment.

I recently took part in an online contest held by Catalog Magazine via Facebook and won myself a free eye test, lens and frames fully provided by Crizal lens. Truth be told, the experience was truly amazing and it made me realize how good lenses can change your vision.

I personally own 3 pairs of glasses and none of them fit me nicely and after some time I stopped wearing them. (HAHA and I managed to fool everyone thinking I've perfect eyesight which is so not true because I always miss the right bus because I can't see shit. I also take a long time standing in the queue ordering food off their big menu on the wall with tiny words. Wtf can see lor? But sorry to those whom I've caused any inconvenience!!) So over time, needless to say my degree got worse. So I was very excited to pick out a new pair of glasses for freeeeee!

I met Daen from Vibes Communications where he sat me down and explained to me what's Crizal lenses all about. He walked me through a couple of experiments where I can clearly see why Crizal lenses are great and different from all the poor quality ones.

So tell me, what are the problems you faced using normal lens? There are the top 5 problems:
  1. Reflections
  2. Scratches
  3. Smudges
  4. Water
  5. Dust
What is so amazing about Crizal lenses is that they target all these 5 problems all in one. You can now have great vision and combat all 5 of these enemies!

SAY NO TO REFLECTIONS:

Crizal lens reduce glare from your surroundings to reduce eyestrain and fatigue for optimal comfort of vision. Reflections on your lens will also be minimized to enhance lens aesthetics. If you happen to love being under the sun a lot, this is great for you because you do not need to worry about not being about to see well under glaring sunlight. And this does not apply only in the day. If you love going for night cycling, it is helpful too!

SAY NO TO SCRATCHES:

Crizal lens are made of tough materials to reduce scratches from daily wear. Hello, if you're just as chor lor as I am, please use Crizal! HAHA. (Sounds super boot licking but I'm really not lying.) Ok let's be serious, sometimes I don't EVEN know where I got those scratches from on my glasses or watches because accidents happen everyday at anytime of the day. You can't minimize it unless you don't go out lor. *roll eyes*

SAY NO TO SMUDGES:

Crizal lens are also made of easy-to-clean lens ensures that smudges and fingerprints do not hinder transparency of the lens. Do you get easily annoyed when no matter how hard to try to clean off fingerprints from your lenses and it just doesn't seem very clean after wiping? Say no more, you've found your solution. :D

SAY NO TO WATER:

Here's the beauty of Crizal lenses: you can wear them and play WATER SPORTS. With unique water repellent feature, water droplets rapidly slide off the lens surface without leaving any trace. There are just people who don't like the idea of contact lenses but yet love playing water sports. Now you can have the best of both worlds!

SAY NO TO DUST:

Let's take 1 experiment Daen showed me which I'm super amazed:

Take a look at this styrofoam ball experiment Daen showed me. These tiny balls represent dirt particles/dust in the air and it is inevitable to have them collected on your glasses anywhere you go (at home/work/partying/out in the sun), everywhere! Take a close look - when we shook the box, I realized that there are LESS dirt collected on Crizal lenses as oppose to a normal one. You cannot eliminate dust completely unless you live in outer space but what Crizal lens can do for you is reduce attraction of dust particles even after cleaning with its Anti-static lens.

After the demo, I proceed to have my eye test!

We were done in about 15 minutes or so and here comes my favorite part: PICKING OUT A PAIR OF FRAMES OF MY CHOICE. *swoons* There were so many to choose from. I was spoilt for choice. Eventually I picked out one a pair of black frames with green interior.

It was a great experience to know of such a wonderful product and you know what? I'm a convert. It's my 2nd week wearing my new pair of glasses with Crizal lenses now and it's been perfect. It's comfortable and it really helps to combat all 5 of those problems we face. I'd recommend Crizal lens to all my friends and family. In fact, I convinced my dad to change his to Crizal lenses too! It feels awesome to live life in the clear.

Thank you Crizal, Catalog Magazine and Vibes Communication for giving me this opportunity. I had a lot of fun. :)
